  • Chattanooga Kids
The World Church has participated in several Designated Giving Projects, including Words for the World, IYF Around the World, and Roofs over Africa.  In each instance the giving goal has been met and surpassed.  The next Designated Giving Project, Chattanooga Kids, begins today and extends through August 2007 with a goal of $300,000.00.  The Chattanooga Urban Ministries Center began as ministry to a trailer park in East Tennessee.  They have now purchased an old bank building in a neighborhood reported to be the 5th most dangerous in the state.  More than 300 people are served food and ministry at this location each week.  Children are being fed and lives are being re-directed.  Jimmy Munson says “The kids stay in school now. We used to have no kids on the honor roll. Now, the majority of kids involved with the center are on the honor roll.”  The building is in need of repair and renovation to the tune of about $600,000.00.  $300,000.00 has already been raised.  Let’s help get the rest!  Make your donations April 1 – August 31 by indicating “Chattanooga Kids” on the World Mission Tithes side of your offering envelope or by donating on-line at the world church web site cofchrist.org.

  • Flooding in Haiti
Apostle Bunda Chibwe shared sad news with the World Conference on Thursday morning. Several days of heavy rains in Haiti had just ended, leaving many areas completely flooded. Our congregation at Cacasse was destroyed by flash flooding and thousands of people lost their homes. Many church members were evacuated to large tents that are severely overcrowded and there is not enough food for everyone.

Paul Davis of the Presiding Bishopric announced that $10,000 had already been sent from the church's disaster relief funds to aid those affected. Haiti Mission Center Financial Officer Michel Rosier will distribute the money sent from the church's Oblation Fund. After there has been time to further assess the situation, additional funds will be made available to meet the needs of the people. Many church leaders from Haiti served as delegates to World Conference They are being assisted as they attempt to contact home to receive specific information about church members and their own families. At this time the best way to help is through prayer and donations to the Oblation Fund. Contributions can be made online at www.CofChrist.org/WorldMinistries/, by using Mission Tithes envelopes, or by mailing a check or money order to Community of Christ World Headquarters, ATTN: Oblation Fund, 1001 W. Walnut, Independence, MO 64050 USA.

  2. Responding Faithfully:A disciple is faithful in response to Christ’s ministry.
  3. Our Financial Response: A disciple’s financial response, while unique to individual circumstances, expresses love of God, neighbor, creation, and oneself.
  4. Sharing Generously: A disciple shares generously through tithing so that others may experience God’s generosity.
  5. Saving Wisely: A disciple saves wisely in order to create a better tomorrow for self, family, the church’s mission, and the world.
  6. Spending Responsibly: A disciple spends responsibly as a commitment to live in health and harmony with God and the world.
